BR1M distribution before 15th is untrue

The public are advised that the recent spread of BR1M payment before the 15th of January is untrue. This refers to the photo of WhatsApp message depicting the Prime Minister’s photo that is spreading on the Internet recently where BR1M will be paid 11th of January for CIMB, Bank Rakyat 12th January for Bank Islam, Bank Muamalat while and 13th onwards for other banks. The first BR1M payment would only start to be distributed on 15th of January 2015 to the victims who had been hit by the recent flood disaster in east coast Malaysia.

Deputy Finance Minister has reiterated that actions will be taken on parties who are involved in spreading the false information. According to the Deputy Finance Minister Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan, the action is unacceptable as it made people angry when the expected aid did not reach their bank accounts.

Around 4.9 million people who have updated their BR1M information before 31st December 2014 is expected to receive their aid on 15th of January 2015. For those without bank accounts, BR1M vouchers will be distributed starting 17th January and is expected to be completed by 31st of March.

The new application, update of BR1M has been extended to 31st of January 2015. The family of deceased for Family Bereavement Scheme can receive a sum of RM 1,000 payment when they present the original Mykad and death certificate of the deceased at Bank Simpanan Nasional.
